Absolutely brutal and honest portrayal of the Mexican Mafia. Olmos puts in his best performance here.

Worth seeing for Olmos' performance alone.

Great film.

It's about a hispanic mans life mostly spent in prison, and how he copes outside of the prison walls after spending most of his adult life there.

The gritty and sad story of a Chicano gangster who one can't help sympathizing with, as the audience sees his entire life, from birth to an aged man in his 50s. Always entertaining, frequently poignant, this is a very good picture only kept from true greatness by the lack of a deeper meaning or point aside from the futility of crime.
