Summary: An anti-American filmmaker who's out to abolish the July Fourth holiday is visited by three ghosts who try to change his perception of the country.
Just mean-spirited, disingenuous, ideological claptrap from start to finish. More proof that trying to mock people when you're the group in power just makes you look like a petulant child. Also more proof that the wrong Farley died.
Holy shit that was a bad movie. Completely insane. If you like this movie then you are clearly out of your mind. I hate Michael Moore as much as the next guy but that was excruciating. There are a few good ideas buried under a pile of unfunny jokes and retarded acting but at the end all the good of this movie is lost to the terrible. Really, really horrible. Wow.
It had some hilarious points, but extremely over the top. And I thought that it was supposed to tell why wars were necessary and then it says that Abraham Lincoln fought the civil war to abolish slavery? Read your history again please. And not the fifth grade stuff. "My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I wo
I thought it had some VERY funny moments. It's a comedy, guys. Just because it comes from a conservative bent is no reason to hate it. It's supposed to be funny, and I thought it was. I'm no more a conservative than I am a liberal, but people need to chill out a bit on this one. Not a classic by any means, but it's definitely got its good points.
a film directed by a (cyrpto-)liberal who imagines how a conservative bigot would have made an anti-liberal movie (so as to make his opponent ashamed). I cannot find any other logical explanation for this shit. even a conservative would be too clever for such a mockery!
It is possible to make a conservative film lampooning liberals like Moore, but instead, Zucker made a ridiculous piece of garbage that basically reflects all that is wrong with his ideologies. This movie is Rob Schneider bad, but in a worse way, because respected artists like Jon Voight and Kelsey Grammer put feces covered exclamation points at the end of their otherwise accomplished careers.
Such a shame this came from Zucker, he's better than this crap. I liked the portrayal of Moore but other than that this movie had nothing to offer besides a couple of scenes that just make you role your eyes and say, why am I watching this again? Grade: D
The creators would like to think that everybody hates this movie because of some liberal bias. Truth is, the movie just isn't funny. I believe Team America made fun of Moore in a much, much finnier way.
Fuck you David Zucker. Fuck you, fuck your life, fuck your parents for giving birth to you and hereby facilitating this movie's existence, fuck everyone who acted in or wrote or produced or held a boom mic in this awful shitpile. (P.S. Love the "opposing the President is wrong!" message coming from fucking conservatives.) (P.P.S. Also love the Republicans seriously trying to rebrand John F. Kennedy as a right-wing Arab-hating Republican who admired Ronald fucking Reagan.)
This movie scores a few points for sheer curiosity value: this may be the most brazenly right-wing big-budget American movie since _Red Dawn_. There's also a nice zombie sight gag, complete with Dennis Hopper, star of _Land of the Dead_... which is not real witty, but fascinating to watch in a warped sort of way. For these reasons, it's at least better than _Canadian Bacon_. It still sucks like few things have ever sucked before. Seriously not funny, and often in a juvenile and tasteless way
