Mediocre. It suffers from some awful exposition, most of which comes from the voice-over narration, a technique that, at least here, feels lazy and pointless. I also had problems with the story in general. As was the case with Interiors, it's a little too obvious that Allen is ripping off Bergman. I know, it's always pretty obvious, but here it's just so blatant and the entire film feels like a second-rate version of Wild Strawberries or Scenes from a Marriage.

Of the Woody Allen's "Bergman movies," (which is a totally unfair description,) this is probably his best. I don't like his Bergman emulation stuff as much as his other stuff, but I'm hardly unique there. Ian Holm's accent was wonky, but who cares about that. Also, Gena Rowlands's face is fucked. What's with that? But it was pretty good overall. Especially that theater dream sequence in the middle.

This is exactly the kind of film I would make. It would be equally sophomoric, culturally and intellectually pandering (name and title drops like gunfire in an action movie), and in the shameful shadow of Bergman. Embarrassing viewing. [to convey how literally I intended the first sentence: I would have made an intrapersonal drama starring Gena Rowlands - featuring psychoanalysis and gratuitous use of Satie. I would have hired someone like Sven Nykvist, assuming that Sven Nykvist was dead.]

Clearly Woody is referencing Bergman here. Felt like a combination of Persona and Wild Strawberries, but not nearly as good. Rowlands is great in the lead and it was nice to see Farrow in the supporting role where she belongs. I think the film would've been better without the voice over explaining everything, but I still enjoyed it for what it is.

Another Woman is very serious and very blunt, sometimes too much so, but Gina Rowlands is fantastic, and Allen never shies away from asking the big questions.

A subdued and introspective movie full of some great themes of regret and optimism, as well as some great performances. I enjoyed the narration, which shifts around to the perspective of different characters while always being voiced by Marion. I also loved the way Marion would find herself a part of her own memories interacting with people from her past. Reminded me a lot of Wild Strawberries. More serious than other Allen, but nonetheless a great film.

Allen does Bergman, but does it well. Gena Rowland gives one of her best performances here, and Gene Hackman is good too.

Intriguing and well-made, if a bit dry. The voice over doesn't detract too much, and the acting is solid from the leads, but a few smaller parts are poorly acted. The short length is welcomed, this film doesn't overstay its welcome.

A beautiful film. Gena Rowlands is stunningly beautiful and acts with a perfect, natural poise. The entire cast is amazing, in fact. An absolutely wonderful film. Woody Allen's love of Bergman is clear.

One of Woody's best and most solid films. Greatly accomplished Bergman references a stunning performance from Rowlands. Too bad it's so forgotten.

Rushes a bit at the end and would perhaps have been better off without the over-explaining voice-over, but a good movie nevertheless.

Ok, the problem is: Allen's dramas are always very didactic essays about past and resentments. Most of the scenes are superficial and irrelevant. Then, he uses that bergman-scheme, embedding those totaly forced and obvious dream-like sequences which are simply full-of-nothing narrative variations; soulless and largely meaningless. I'm not saying that this is the worst shit ever. But it does not mean much to me.
