The explicit sexuality in the first third helped give the rest of the movie some momentum. The remaining 2/3 would have held my interest anyway, I guess, but none of it is anywhere near as graphic as the beginning. Maybe the viewer needs the rest of the time to cool down after the initial steaminess.
