Stone tries to tackle the world of pro football from every angle and spreads himself too thin. The movie is over-long, has terrible pacing issues and an extremely trying first hour. But when it hits, it hits hard. Pacino is good as a coach at the end of his rope, and his pre-game speech about "inches" is one for the ages. Even better is Foxx, who does it all in this movie: he's fierce, funny and even wrote three songs for the soundtrack. The chapter-search button was built for movies like this.

I can't take the melodrama.

Reviewing the director's cut here. The scene where a football player looses an eyeball is completely unnecessary and is such an unlikely happenstance that it detracts from the film. Admittedly it does flow better than the theatrical cut however there are still plenty of "music video moments" where footage is inter-cut that just doesn't add anything. In the latter half of the film this calms down and the film improves. It's a great look at professional sports, if admittedly cliche at points.

overrated

One of those films that is essentially remembered for one scene; Pacino's super macho motivational speech. That scene has never done anything for me, and the rest of the film is a collection general cliche's and average performances, encompassing a sport I don't really care for.

Overstuffed, obvious expose, but the performers are winning, and Stone loves sensory overload.

Fox is so-so. Pacino good as always. Story is no that great.

The film is too bloated and cliche-ridden to have any real bite.

Pacino brings enough character for three movies, and his over the top performance makes this moderately boring topic worth following.

Probably worth more, but i don't understand thing 1 about American Football, so a lot of it went over my pea brain. Still good tho
