Summary: When cyborgs and human launch coordinated attacks on the government headquarters in Olympus, Deunan, Briareos, and Tereus swing into action against a mysterious enemy. (Amazon)
Fancy CGI animation, that I strongly dislike, and ridiculous, very thin plot. Soundtrack selection is something else too - mostly it is some kind of electro techno with random r'n'b or pop song.
A lot of eyecandy here. Action and main figures animated beautifully with the aid of motion capture (supporting figures pretty stiff). Tons of cool John Woo details. Story is a mess. Sceneries, use of camera, rendering and the general atmoshere stunning. Majority of movement enough realistic. I'm not a manga fan.
I am a casual fan of Anime, but I love Sci Fi. The dialog is half a notch up from, the music is not quite as good (more western, though) as, and the animation is on-par with the previous film (Appleseed, 2004). Like a lot of anime epics, this plot is a convoluted mess. The John Woo tributes (he's a producer here) are evident in the really decent action sequences- doves fly, bullet ballet heroes and heroins, etc. If you like anime or love cartoon sci-fi, go for it. Otherwise steer clear.
