Summary: A black, disillusioned Vietnam veteran struggles with his experiences of the war nearly eight years after its end. Failing to yet successfully re-integrate himself into society, the prejudices he finds against African Americans juxtapose themselves with the cultural issues brought about by the war, leading to his continual running away from what emotionally weakens him--regardless of his friends' insistence to face the matters he ignores.
