Compared to Brick the performances are more uneven (the lead is too weak) and the story too opaque (why should I care?) but the noirish atmosphere works well and the comedy is kept at an appropriate level.

This is a great noir parody which takes place with in the confines of a high school. Okay, this is a very very strange movie, but the characters are fun, the story is fun and Mischa Barton's tits are fun too.

Really confused film. At times subverts the cliches of quirky indie cinema, at other times weakens and revels in them. It clicks nicely about 15% of the time, but on the whole it's pretty much just a sorta entertaining miss.

10 for willis, -6 for barton's nappy ass tits. So cliche and uninteresting that if it was a dog, I'd sell it to Michael Vick.

The voice-overs are painfully unfunny and the story is lifted directly from "Brick", which is admittedly a good movie to steal from. Bruce Willis does some nice work here but overall, the film is pretty inconsequential.

Great film, unexpected ending and a realistic take instead of the fantasy world that is projected in most high school films.

This was a great highschool film. It turned the normal highschool drama into a James Bond (Jimmy Bond) style film and was still almost believable while retaining a strong comic element.

Excels Brick in every way by avoiding the one tactic Brick seemed hellbent on employing--tying me naked to a pike and forcing reconstituted indie noir groin-cheese down my every orifice while raping my mind with whiny post-modern Volkswagen Jetta pop. While AoaHSP never takes itself too seriously, it never crosses over into the realm of ridiculous, and never, ever resorts to rapacious rambunctiousness, and that, in itself, is good enough pour moi.

A surprisingly satisfying high school film/noir parody. Bruce Willis' character was what kept my attention initially, but with or without him, this film would have been worth the watch.

Just watch Brick instead.

Nice Chinatown reference at the end. Solid high school film that gets elevated a great deal cause of Bruce Willis. I could listen to that guy call people towelheads all day. Also features Mischa Barton's boobs, which was sweet.

I understood the scheme before it was revealed, but I didn't (and still don't) understand why Mischa Barton's character decided to run some kind of arcane scam that counted on...improbable...whatever. It was solid.

Tongue-in-cheek noir. Not quite as solid as Brick, but a lot funnier. And has Bruce Willis.

Assassination of a High School President shares similar character traits with the movie Brick. Both pay homage to film noir films of the past and are set in a high school. Whereas Brick plays its premise moody and stylish Assassination of a High School president goes for quirky and comical. The movie is very hit or miss. Some of it works and some of it doesn't. Wow, I did not expect this to be a great movie. I said great, the acting is great, the characters are great, the film noir is great, the storytelling is great and Mischa Barton's breasts are great. Probably overrating it but for me this movie delivered in abundance.

Very good pacing, acting and directing. Shame that the story was empty and good for nothing. I liked the combination of detective story and high school, but the shooting in school is never a good act of fun. Points for Mischa.

I mostly dug this movie's vibe. The plot was spotty in a few places, but it was an enjoyable little high school noir, the journalism thriller to Brick's murder mystery. Worth a watch if you like high school flicks with a twist.

As other reviewers have noted, this isn't as good as Brick, but it's a pretty intriguing take on classic film noirs with the setting of a high school. A little over-the-top goofy at times to where it's somewhat distracting, but I enjoyed the movie overall.

I hate this movie. It wants so badly to be a comedy version of Brick. The only good thing about this movie is a few throwaway funny lines and Mischa Barton naked in a bathtub for a few seconds. Maybe I wouldn't hate it so much if Brick didn't exist but it does and so I do.

At the end of the day, it's not much better than a poor man's Brick. I like high school noir as a genre, but that's about all this had going for it.
