Rand's capitalist heroes r far removed from the Gordon Gekkos of the world. They have a cast-iron integrity u won't find outside of stories involving unicorns. Despite what steel magnate Rearden may say, his real passion is accomplishment itself. Her protagonists choose their principles over money every time & will actually destroy the empires they've slaved over before compromising! They're capitalist fantasies, but fans of the unusual may find such brazen elitism uniquely fascinating 2 watch.

The screenplay was comically bad. Not as terrible as I thought it would be but still one of the worst of the year. There's nothing here. It's not entertaining or insightful or engrossing or educational. It's a cheaply made waste of time. There's just nothing here.

Even though I find Ayn Rands philosophy tantamount to evil and am utterly repulsed by it, I did actually quite enjoy reading the book as a bit of dystopian fiction. But this isn't the book, it's the film and as a film it doesn't work - it rambles, not even trying to help a newcomer to the story and the central theme of the use of trains for long distance transport (and not planes) has been stubbornly left in when it desperately needed to be modernised to work on the screen for a modern audience.

I'm not familiar with the book. After watching this I don't want to be. Hilariously bad acting and an inept screenplay full of idiotic one-line snippets pretending to be philosophy. The core message seems to be that rich people deserve to be rich because their parents worked for that inheritance. If you were lazy enough to choose poor parents to give birth to you then it's entirely your fault. And socialism isn't a philosophy, socialists exist only to be nihilistically evil.

The script wasn't as bad as the trailer made it appear: it was the actors' delivery. This distracts from the sparse attempts to explain the philosophy that occupies most of the novel. What's left is a comfortably paced, reasonably interesting story.

The inept and evil novel, bible of greedy brats everywhere, becomes a film that's thankfully only cheap and lousy.

I don't really give a shit about 'the message' or the novel or whoever John fucking Galt is supposed to be. The acting was pretty bad, the script is horrendous, and the film was just boring.

I heard it would be bad. It was, but nowhere near as bad as I heard. By far the worst part was the acting. The only movie with more unlikable characters that I have ever seen was Paranormal Activity. Really it was a disappointment after seeing how the source material could be used (i.e. Bioshock). I guess they also never learned how music is made to set the mood. The music has the opposite effect that it should. I can't stress enough how horrible the music in this movie is.
