In the wake of Platoon, Full Metal Jacket and Hamburger Hill, this was a smaller movie in smaller, less gritty Vietnam, about one mission involving one man (Bat*21). Danny Glove and Gene Hackman perform solid workmanship. It's a true story, and that results in some obvious constraint in the script. I caught this one on VHS from Blockbuster where it showed up quick . I'd rate this movie between alright and decent. Sidebar - Best performance Jerry Reed in his career.

It's not too great, but there a a few nice scenes. The screenplay is downright awful at times, and Glover is predictably average. The real surprise here is the very ordinary Hackman, who really didn't seem too fussed about this one! More than enjoyable enough, but your not missing much if you never come across it!

A man on a military mission is shot down behind enemy lines. The perseverance, bravery, and comradery of two men as portrayed in Bat*21 makes for a good movie.
