Starts off strong, but winds down into sort of plodding stories with no tight connection between them.

The animation style is intrusive, the plots lacklustre at best (and positively irritating at worst), and the whole thing feels like a waste of a fantastic idea, not to mention one that contradicts the supposed realism of the Nolanverse while it professes to bridge the gap between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. If you're really in need of an animated Batman fix, you could do worse than to check out the DCAU before you even consider turning to this Japanime dreck.

The animation (anime) is very good, but the stories (6 vignettes) are weak--not dumb, but there isn't much to them.

Much in the vein of "The Animatrix", "Batman: Gotham Knight" tries to fill the gap between "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight". Sadly, it doesn't do that at all. Not one of these stories captures the tone of either film. Nothing is done to fill in any background for the characters. Worst of all, only two of the six short films manage to entertain. At best, the film gives insight into the mythos of Batman, outside of his film counter-part. However, that wasn't what these films promised to be.

Great concept, incredible art, and with Kevin Conroy's voice, you can't go wrong. Was a little disappointed with bits of the dialogue here and there, considering the typical skills of the writers involved.

1: Just love Batman so I'm easy to impress. 2: The animation in the first one was awful and didn't work at all. The animation was uneven in general, some was great, some was not. 3: Even so, the story in the first was good. Liked the story in most of them, especially "Working Through Pain." To seasoned Batman fans, the views into his psych aren't original but even so it's interesting. Field Test and "Have I Got A Story For You" are the weakest links. But all in all it's a good watch.

Good animation, but at times overly stylized and/or too many aftereffects. Conroy does excellent voice acting; the rest range from good to mediocre to unpleasant, with the facial expressions and body language not always matching the tone of voice. Good story ideas, but not always well-executed. "Field Test" is my favorite here, with actual relevance to why Batman does things and how he does them.

6 hikayeden ilki, "Have I Got A Story For You", tam anlamiyla mükemmel bir bakis açisindan Batman'i irdeliyor. Ancak film, Crossfire ve Field Test'te tempoyu bir hayli dusuruyor, hem senaryo açisindan hem de animasyon/çizim stili açisindan. In Darkness Dwells, tam bir Batman öyküsü.

A fine compliment to the Nolanverse, this Batmanime shows us what became of the Narrows, introduces us to Gordon's MCU, and is a far more cohesive whole than the scattered stories that made up the Animatrix. Having said that, though, the Animatrix is better. Certain segments here don't work as well as others, and it feels a bit short. Always a treat to hear Kevin Conroy voice Batman, however. It's must-watch stuff for fans, but probably not of much interest to everyone else.

I was pretty disappointed with this collection of animated stories. Most of them has got disasterously boring level of animation. Collection opens with a brilliant, the best story by Shoujirou Nishimi. It's got style, idea and animation works. The story by Yasuhiro Aoki was also pretty good one with some humour in the end. The best action was in the concluding story by Jong-Sik Nam. All the rest were non interesting what so ever.

I don't see how this "bridges the gap" between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight because it really feels like six random Batman shorts that have nothing to do with the films other than both the shorts and the films are about (surprise) Batman. With that said it's an entertaining collection and undoubtedly everyone will have their favorites. Personally I liked the surrealism and subjectiveness of memory of the first and the animation fourth the most.
