This criminally underseen film is easily the best Batman film made to date, and I would dare to say the best superhero film period made to date. It manages to keep up suspense, drama, action, and top-notch direction and performances throughout its entire running time, which granted is short, but that works in its favor.

The poor animation hurts an otherwise great movie.

A cool Batman mystery / origin story set in The Animated Series universe. The noirish art deco style is timeless and entertaining and the way the mystery unfolds is entertaining clockwork. I was honestly pretty surprised by the final reveal. The whole thing has a gloomy tone that I applaud them for.

For being essentially a theatrical release of a made-for-TV movie of a Saturday morning cartoon its quality is nothing short of miraculous.

Easily the best Batman movie. The gang from the genius television series teams up to make this classic noir that weaves an intricate story in the unpredictable setting of Gotham City.

Until Batman Begins, this was the best Batman movie ever produced. It is still the best depiction of the conflict between Batman the icon and Bruce Wayne the man.

Honestly, next to Batman Begins, this was probably the best Batman movie. I loved the cartoon, and this movie does it full justice in terms of the animation, the style, and the surprisingly serious themes.

The third best Batman movie. The Joker was great, the animation is solid but not amazing (though the atmosphere of Gotham is right on), the script is great. There were a few awkward moments in the voice acting but generally everyone was really good.

Before Batman Begins, this was arguably the truest Batman film. With a smart plot and the popular animation of the 90's series, Mask of the Phantasm was a surprisingly complex cartoon. With a detailed view at Batman's origin, this film was bold and interesting for any fan of the Dark Knight. Really good!

Despite being a little short, I still think that this is the best Batman film ever made.

Does the cartoon justice with great animation and a nice plot!

For a while there this held the prestigious title of Best Bat-Film. To be fair, Schumacher wasn't doing much to give it a run for its money, though Burton's second effort comes close. Of course in came Nolan to blow this away, but this is still a damn fine watch, with a great script and terrific voice acting. As good as the Nolan films are, Dini and Timm's Batman is still the definitive version to me. While their show is better than this movie (if slightly), the film is much darker. Fun stuff.

Now that the show was not on TV, the creators were able to explore more mature territory: have the Joker murder for gain; insinuate sex for Wayne; and play with the great late Batman theme of justifiable violence. Better than half the live-action film adaptations of the character, and always worthwhile. Hamill as The Joker is second only to the great Ledger, who probably learned much from this iteration.

Not only is this without a doubt the greatest Batman movie made to date, where Mark Hamill's performance as the Joker still remains unmatched, this is one of the best American animated movies to date as well.

An actual entertaining and fun Batman cartoon movie. AN interesting plot puts Batman in the seat of the accused and he must prove his innocence.
