Pretty good, for a D2DVD animated film. DiMaggio's Joker wasn't bad, but too often it was "Bender," and that's why it wasn't great.

Bender as the Joker was a little weird to me, but honestly my biggest complaint is kind of a nitpicky detail. There's a minor bad guy who shoots eye lasers, but he's not very accurate with them. This makes no sense. If it goes in a straight line right from your eye, all you have to do is look at something to hit it. But I guess Batman can just dodge faster than the speed of light.

Yet another reason why the animated Batman franchise will always be better than the live action films (with the exception of the 60s film of course). The animation and dialogue can be pretty weak at times and the cast is hit and miss (the exclusion of Mark Hamill is the only major flaw, he IS the best Joker after all) but Jensen Ackles and Neil Patrick Harris do a surprisingly good job and everything else is actually fantastic. Any film that starts with the death of Robin is a winner.

Exceptionally well done action scenes, the plot is full in that comic sort of way, and the voice acting is solid. Not sure why you wouldn't cast Mark Hamill as the Joker every chance you get.

This wasn't terrible, but it wasn't anywhere near as good as, say, Mask of the Phantasm. The animation is pretty bad in spots. The Joker's voice actor is AWFUL. I think it's a serious contender for the worst Joker voice in any medium. The identity of the Red Hood is supposed to be a big mystery, and yet the opening makes it painfully obvious who it is. The Black Mask is a completely one-dimensional villain, and his scenes take up way too much time considering he's not even the main antagonist.

It's nicely brutal, the voice cast is impressive (with the exception of Williams's Black Mask, who's a bit on the hammy side), and the script is better-than-average for animated superhero films. Not a bad place to start, certainly.

Not quite a kids film as it is so violent and not quite good enough for adults cause the dialogue and story is so predictable and not written very well. Enjoyable but slow and it really suffered from not casting Mark Hamill, the greatest joker ever.

A decent addition to the plethora of Batman cartoons. Better than I expected anyway. But you're telling me Bruce Timm was a producer on this and couldn't phone Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill to come in? I know you try your best here, Di Maggio, but stick to Bender.

"Now, that was rude. The first boy blunder had some manners. I'm supposed I'm going to have to teach you a lesson so you can better follow in his footsteps. No, I'm just gonna keep beating you with this crowbar. " One of the best Batman animated films and the voice actors were great even with a new Joker (albeit a good one).

This is easily the best DCU animated flick since Mask of the Phantasm and I liked it more than The Dark Knight. There is healthy representation from the rogues gallery and despite being predictable (even more so if you are familiar with the comics) the plot winds up being one of the best Robin stories ever told. The cast features many notable voice actors and the work is fine, but Di Maggio's Joker stands almost as tall as Hamill's. A bit brutal for the kiddies, but UtRH should please most fans.

Animation was good - clean and shiny. Character development was Ok. I guess all future joker performances end up feeling hollow once you have experienced Heath Ledger's portrayal. Other than that nothing much to complain. A worthwhile thing in the film is its attempt to make one think about the thin grey line between good and bad - and the role of revenge in helping one cross the line.

A fine outing from the DC Animated Universe, and a compelling Batman story dealing with some relatively mature themes. It could easily be a live action film, and a great one at that.

I mean, generally if a movie is at least a competent Batman movie, I rate it highly because I'm in love with Batman, but this is a genuinely good film (but I still rate it a few points higher than I should perhaps because it's Batman). Some of the dialogue is wonky but I enjoyed the action scenes. At the same time, some of the dialogue is badass, and the last fight and the very last scene are epic and touching. The story is well told and interesting, the animation is good.

Batman: Under the Red Hood Drinking Game: Out Loud using your best impression, shot "Motherfucker!!!" after every single one of Black Mask's lines, then take a drink. Every time you see an internal consistency error... take a drink. Every time a bumbling henchmen proves how useless he is... take a trink. Everytime you hear the Joker and wish they had hired Mark Hammill instead... take a drink. Every time Butler Alfred spills his Tea... take Ten drinks.

At first I was a little dissapointed 'cause this one doesn't have Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamil in it, but the new guys do a great job even they have big boots to fill. The story have familiar parts from comics but it still suprises even the comics would be familiar. The movie includes enough violence to make the dark story work. Technically this is very well made (animation, editing, sounds...) and the result is awesome action animation movie. Must see for "A Death in the Family" fans.

The direct-to-DVD animated superhero films that have come out in recent years are all blown out of the water (especially the Marvel ones) by this, which hopefully sets a new standard of quality for the industry. The plot, multi-layered yet seamless; characterization, spot-on; animation, clean and fluid; voice acting, flawless balance of the heavy and humorous (forget Hamill - DiMaggio knocks it out of the park!). The Batman/Robin relationship is explored in a touchingly mature way. Incredible.
