A film so bland as to appear like a video game demo. I can't name one shot that was not touched by the strange hand of CGI, but then again, 20 minutes in, I just began joking about the film with my viewing partner. Truly a work for the ADD generation, though it ironically captivated the ADD-afflicted in attendance and left us "train of thought"-style thinkers reeling and distracted. Hmph.

Within an alien invasion plot, this film surprised me in that it depicted the hellishness of combat in a way that feels more honest despite its fantastical story. You could argue its American flag waving, but the depictions of the soldiers can be easily interpreted as merely showing the struggle for survival someone would have to face in a situation where it is impossible to avoid violence. Its a controversial statement, but I feel this film should be separated from others guilty of this.

What a massive piece of utter turd! Bertolini's script is simply the most offensive piece of crap to ever rape my ears! The cliche, obnoxious, irritating characters are even worse! I was desperate for the aliens to kill them all. The casting is stereotypically bland too; "need a female soldier? Michelle Rodriguez is yer gal!" The action isn't anything special either, & considering there is almost two hours of relentless fighting, that's somewhat of a problem! Avoid like herpes.

Basically the worst movie I've ever seen. Not only is it a mindlessly patriotic advertisement for the military, but it's boring, has terrible acting, and the story is beyond worthless. There's too many characters, and you don't care about them. It goes from fast-paced shoot-em-up video game cinematic to a yelling scene with inspirational background music, then repeats over and over and over. Oh, (spoiler) the secret weapon to kill the aliens: missiles. Yeah, regular missiles. That's it.

An ordinary awful american movie. If you are really looking to waste a couple hours, feel free to give this "original movie". The story of the movie is completely similar to the "Independence Day" or "War of the Worlds". As a matter of fact a group of US soldier save the planet against aliens. Character development is also very poor. My score is 1 out of 10.

If you have watched Independence Day or War Of The Worlds then there is nothing really for you to see in this movie. The special effects are good and the movie is slick but those definitely do not make the movie a 'must-watch'...Passable, I would say.

Shoddily written, soullessly directed. Emotionally overwrought military fetishism like John Milius sans any craftsmanship, conviction, or camp value. Another generic, obnoxious, embarrassingly self-serious chapter in the ongoing sixty-nine of Hollywood and American nationalism.

Great special effects and acting from Aaron Eckhart do little to hide a Hollywood style plot that makes this movie much closer to every other shitty action film instead of like Aliens. Going into the theaters I had high hopes, but this film was predictable and dull. Someone needs to punch Michelle Rodriguez in the boobs and tell her to stop playing tough marine characters in every fucking movie EVER. Sick and tired of seeing her. Still, it works as mindless, generic action flick.

This is Independence Day with a lobotomy. American heroes save the world from aliens. You just have to swap US fighter pilots with the Marines. It even comes with the traditional 'let's tell everyone else how to beat them' at the end. But unlike ID, which was at least fun to watch and had a few funny moments, this thing has no redeeming qualities. If you decide to watch it, you'll be glad it's over.

If you're looking for special effects, explosions and not much of a plot, here's your movie. It's kind of like Independence Day and Black Hawk Down combined. A lot of time is spent in the opening on introducing characters as if they're more than generic plastic army men, but what takes place doesn't really affect what happens, nor is referenced later. I can't think of anything else to say, so I thought I'd share that my mom thinks this movie is called "3-11-11" so that's what we call it.

10 minutes in a Marine out shopping in full combat gear stops to smell a flower. This movie is made for the kind of people who find that symbolically deep and beautiful.

Somebody definitely has been watching too many armed forces documentaries. The shaky camera with all the quick zooming in and out felt a little overdone at times, but overall, the movie was exactly what I expected. Lots of shooting, exploding, etc. Kind of like Starship Troopers without the humor, sarcasm, bugs...alright. It was nothing like Starship Troopers. Still, the closest we'll get to mindless alien buttkicking without an appearance by the Fresh Prince.

Average. Trying to cash in on the over-rated 'Monsters' ticket, this film fails miserably on all fronts. Shoddy direction and design, cheesy CGI and monster effects, ham-fisted execution and a muddled plot. Films like these make you truly appreciate the value or waste thereof of free leisure time. Not Recommended.

Watching this made me wonder if the U.S. military is now hiring Hollywood filmmakers to make recruitments. You really can't tell the difference from watching this film. Having said that, I'd guess fans of action films would like this. I liked the stripped down, simplified plot--although the film does lack imagination in terms of the way the protagonists get out scrapes and ultimately defeat the enemy. Still, it wasn't bad as I thought it would be.
