Summary: Based on the musical comedy of the same name, the film casts Keaton as wimpy millionaire Alfred Butler, who goes on a vacation in the mountains in the company of his faithful valet (Snitz Edwards). While communing with nature, Alfred falls in love with a beautiful young girl (Sally O'Neil), who barely acknowledges his existence. (AllMovie)

Buster Keaton battled and succeeded at transposing slapstick farce to the realm of compelling cinema but it's still a struggle to convince many modern film viewers of silent film's strength even with gems like Battling Butler on exhibition. Yet anyone who hasn't experienced the comedic joys of this movie--in which the archetypal Keaton persona bumblingly masquerades as a champion boxer--has truly missed out.

this one is a pretty middle of the road keaton movie, it's worth watching for any fan of silent comedy, but other than that i'd be hard pressed to recommend it to anyone.

Weakest feature film directed by Keaton. There is more plot than in usual his movie, and at the same time almost no jokes. And plot isn't any good.
