Nothing more than a harmless kids film about a young girl and her dog named after the supermarket she found him in. For a kids film it surprisingly touches upon some adult themes, mainly to do with Opal's Mother leaving her at a young age. Acting is fairly good, AnnaSophia Robb is very good as the lead as is Jeff Daniels as her Preacher Father. The storyline starts out as a film about the dog but ends up going in a different direction. Overall its OK but nothing I haven't really seen before.

Great family/childrem movie. Warm and uplifting

I always feel great and really refreshed after seeing this. The drama and comedy all come softly and at the perfect moments and I don't know it's just a good movie... Dave Matthews surprised me here, he's a darn good actor.

All I remember about this movie was that Dave Matthews brought a jar of pickles to a party. I think of this any time I hear Dave Matthews.

It's cute.

It's ashame this is a kid's movie and not a horror flick, becuase every single character in this movie creeped me out.

Strictly for viewers who like cute dog/cute kid movies, but entertaining in that limited vein.

Fairly mediocre. I don't have too many complainments about the film, really; it's just that the part of me that would care at all about the film faded away too long ago.

Saw on TV, so broken flow & I missed the beginning. That said, it's a cute enough movie but nothing really inspired. Fairly typical plot about a girl (with her dog) who brings a town together. I wouldn't mind though if there was more to the various subplots & characters. I felt we were "told" what we needed to know instead of it being there. The acting was good at times & the dog was really cute & had lots of character. I loved all the animals in the film. It was sweet but somewhat lacking.
