Summary: A family comedy about a hotel handyman (Sandler) whose life changes when the lavish bedtime stories he tells his niece and nephew start to magically come true.
I was pleasantly suprized by this movie. I'm not an Adam Sandler fan, but his character was somewhat endearing and the person who wrote the script definitely has an out-there imagination.
Bedtime Stories is a Christmas gift you won't want to unwrap or slightly tear in any way possible. This is a typical Adam Sandler comedy that's marketed in a PG form, to make parents think that it will be okay. WRONG! Hopefully you would prefer to enlighten yourself with something greater this holiday, like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and let this piece of crap rot in the ground, where mankind can never dig it back up again. Just terrible.
Sandler is pretty infantile, so I guess this makes sense for him. I can imagine this would be cool for a 9 year old, though it's pretty dumb and not very funny.
I have to admit it, it was one of the better Adam Sandler movies, although not a huge fan of him, he made the movie really entertaining. Has some good points, but was just a little disappointed. I expected more since it was a DISNEY movie after all....
"Bedtime Stories" should be an easy sell for kids, and it should work too, but the story never quite makes it. Think Sandler's "Billy Madison" mixed up with something along "Princess Bride" without any of the romance, originality, laughs, or adventure. This thing just never works. It's often tacky, cheesy, and not even interesting for youngsters.
This was a cute movie and the kids were adorable. I suspect that everyone who scored this movie poorly was expecting Happy Gilmore/Billy Madison-type antics, and instead got Adam Sandler playing... himself!
