It's a rather humdrum documentary but the subject matter is charming for sure - and I'm inclined to give it maybe more credit than it deserves because as a child I was obsessed with Elmo. It's a pleasant watch but if you miss it I wouldn't worry about it.

It's nice to see a film that presents one creative man's pursuit of his dream. Through a commitment to his puppets, Clash has made the world a better place, bringing love and kindness to the lives of children all over the world. The moment that slayed me: when the "make a wish" girl visited, Clash playing Elmo, and the camera shifting the reveal his eyes welling with tears. Just a warm, enjoyable film.

It isn't that deep or thought provoking but oh my goodness does it ever warm the cockles of the heart. A delight.

The film is done well, and will pull in even those with minimal interest. However, it tries to tread on the lighter side of things, avoiding the details of Kevin's divorce and any true expression of pain from missing out on his daughter's childhood. Lots of holes, but good enough nonetheless.

It has its flaws, and at times it drags a little, but ultimately it's such a feelgood documentary that it's hard to feel anything other than positive about it as a whole. Everyone involved comes off as honest and genuine, and it's uplifting to know that these are (at least some of) the guardians of kids' TV.

The adult in me kept wanting the filmmakers to delve deeper into Clash's life experiences, but then about halfway through, I realized that I was maybe looking for something that was never there to begin with. The story's not complicated because that wouldn't be Elmo, and therefore wouldn't be Kevin Clash.

The very definition of heartwarming. Sure, it could have gone a lot deeper if it wanted to, but it's so earnestly charming and filled with glee that it's virtually irresistible. Interesting as a backstage peek into the Muppet universe, and as a tale of a genuinely good, nice, positive group of people. Appropriate Christmastime fare.

Getting a look behind the scenes of the man that is Elmo should be more interesting than 'Being Elmo' makes it. His story of how he came up through sheer grit, determination and a little luck is an interesting one. Yet, it never really feels like more than a job interview. He talks a lot about his parents, but his relationship with his daughter is mentioned almost momentarily and completely out of the blue. It touches on topics like these, but never really get in depth enough to be captivating.
