Unconvincing indie romance in which the director seems more interested in reinforcing positive cultural stereotypes than in the feelings or logical processes of his characters. There are clichés abound but ultimately it's the rough-edged editing and naive film-school directorial style which end up making a forgettable 90 minutes slightly more palatable than the usual overpolished superficial jizz one usually finds in this genre. Not muy classy, but a change from the norm. The ending sucked too.
"Scored to a relentless mix of Spanish and English pop anthems, cut like a Grudge freak-out, and performed with all the gusto of a Chespirito skit." - Ed Gonzalez
pretty much entirely forced, and mostly unnatural feeling. had this been in different hands, and the script had a serious overhaul it would have been fantastic. as it is, it's hard to understand, impossible to enjoy and as easy to penetrate as a slab of granite.
A beautiful (Bella) lovestory of Mexican Jesus kind of a guy with beartd (!) who wants to save a "fallen", unfarely kicked girl. But the story is also a savior for "Jesus" himself. Unusual, life like storytelling. Stands out from cheesy American romance films. Good performances. Excellent editing.
