I was fully aware that I wanted to watch this for the ridiculousness of the whole thing. This later Seagal film however is a huge shift from his early films in the feel of them, which is frankly cheapness to the presentation, which is surprising. This film really does not have the entertainment factor of something like Hard To Die, although thankfully some of the bizarre inclusions that suddenly appear in the story manage to save it from drudgery.

Another chance for Seagal to explore and elaborate on the finer aspects of his acting craft: such as (but not limited to) "just standing there" "moving as gracefully as an arthritic silverback gorilla" and "acting only with the use of the neck". That said; Belly of The Beast still mimics the shape and form of a normal film, which at this point in Seagal's career should be considered a welcomed bonus.

Horrible. Had hardly any of the lovable traits that you'd normally see in a Seagal movie.

Seagal hits rock-bottom looking confused in the middle of badly directed shoot-outs surrounded by some of the worst perfomances in a "serious film" ever. Seagal have never looked less in shape. Belly of the Beast indeed...
