Summary: The warrior Beowulf must fight and defeat the monster Grendel who is terrorizing towns, and later, Grendel's mother, who begins killing out of revenge. (imdb)
A real surprise as it was totally not what I was expecting. A non-stop Action film that could really go the distance being a CGI film. Its a great storyline as our hero Beowulf helps a town being terrorized by a vicious monster. The actors are great, with Ray Winstone leading the way as Beowulf. Brendan Gleeson offers some humor as his close friend Wiglaf. Overall its a brilliant film with great special effects, and anyone who loves a fantasy or Action-packed film will surely enjoy it :)
This is a weird movie. Is it a comedy? A satire of ye olde legends? A deconstruction of the hero archetype in Anglo-Saxon mythology? A straight macho action movie? It's like the mulligan stew of movies, a sloppy mixture of all of the above that doesn't really seem to have any idea what it's about.
I saw this in 2d and i bet like final destination..in 3D this would be way better...I thought that the movie was a waste of boring and that the whole film could be flushed in a toilet,,
Except for our leading man (Winstone, looking suspiciously buff. Hmmm), the cast are underused, so I would've liked to have seen more looney tunes from Crispin Glover and John Malvovich. The 3-D also ain't much, as it never is, but it does have one golden moment; Beowulf slicing open a sea-monster's neck, spraying blood "all over" the audience. The ten year old boy sitting next to me in the cinema was like "Cool!" and so was I.
This movie is something between saturday morning cartoons and a serious movie. The story is a little bit boring and the characters are not so cool with the viking dialogue. The person who made color corrrection for this is a totally beginner. The colors looks so cheap computer bullshit that it ruins a great camera work.
