Summary: Berdel means a kind of exchange between two families. One family gives a girl to be bride as the dowry payment of the bride they're taking from another family. This "tradition" was used in South-eastern Anatolia, mostly young girls were being given. The film focuses on the drama of this situation with another suppresion on women. It was that giving birth to a baby boy instead of girls was accepted as the main duty of women in Anatolia. (by Paradigma)
