On the one hand it's a morbidly fascinating look behind the scenes of Troll 2, & contextualizing the madness of Troll 2 makes it that much more fun to watch (yes, even more than it already is). On the other, it's a tribute to people who love movies of all stripes. It pairs well on a doc double-bill with Winnebago Man, as watching these F-list pseudo-celebs ride the convention wave is a perfect follow-up to Jack Rebney coming to terms with his own legacy. It's funny, creepy and ultimately moving.

This could have bombed. There were moments when it veered into pandering to Troll 2 fans, which is not interesting. But Stephenson did the right thing. He found the most interesting eccentric, and latched onto him. In the end the movie's less about Troll 2 than it is about George Hardy. That saved it.

Most of the film is a fun exploration into a unique cultural phenomenon, and getting to see the faces behind the madness is a treat. However, by the third act, the whole thing just gets so drab. There's just scene after scene of failure of recognition, ugly interactions, and essentially just trying too hard. The Margo stuff is just sad and the second visit probably shouldn't have been left in, and George's visits to the conventions didn't really fit in with the earlier tone of the picture.

An interesting look at Troll 2 with some great moments but in the end Stephenson focused a little too much on the cult status of the movie and not enough on the people involved. Something tells me if a more objective documentarian got a hold of the footage there would be a much more interesting story to tell.

A lot could have been left out. When Hardy described how it felt to go to so many screenings and seeing him ponder why he kept going to them, I had an all too vivid idea of what he was talking about. Aside from that, the film captures a glimpse of the interesting cast and the bizarre characters behind this cult film. Personally, I could have watched an hour and a half of the guy who had to suppress urges to drown the child lead during takes. Unfortunately, Stephenson was said child actor.

not only a look at troll 2, but an ode to cult cinema. but, while it is an interesting look at the real lives of the actors who played in the so-called "worst movie of all-time," it never goes beyond that.

Starts out as a pleasant fish out of water story as various non-pro actors learn that the shitty movie they made and later erased from their memory in 1989 is now a cult sensation. It's thrilling to see some "real" people get the star treatment at first but soon even the good-hearted characters start becoming jaded, develop egos and grow weery of being remembered solely for their ineptness once the initial burst of excitement wears off. Fairly interesting glimpse of the cult-celeb subculture.

An ode to the people caught up in a movie that ended up being worth way more than the sum of its parts - including them. The interviews are brilliantly realized, with flashes of humor and waves of melancholy. It only helps the director that the people are mostly just one step away from a nuthouse. Which almost explains Troll 2.

Intriguing documentary, but nothing mind blowing. It focuses way too much on George Hardy (he's really annoying) but really he seemed like the only guy who was that into the movie becoming a cult phenomenon. At parts it's humorous and others uncomfortable, but overall it's a pretty rewarding experience. You don't need to have seen Troll 2 to appreciate this movie but it would probably help.

As a documentary, it's a slight piece of work. What makes it a must-see are some of the characters. Margo, for example, who has, it seems, gone quite insane, is a creepy acquintance. And both George Hardy and the Italian director were fun to follow. I'm not sure the film made be want to seek out Troll 2, though.

I probably would have liked it more had it focused more on the director and the rest of the cast, than putting so much focus on George Hardy. It should have also focused more on making the movie than the conventions. There is a lack of the witch/goblin lady who I was most interested in seeing.

The pacing is all over the place, but it's hard not to be charmed by this movie. At times, it recalls the wonderful The King of Kong - and that's no small feat. George Hardy has an amazing personality, and the director is almost as great of a villain as Billy Mitchell. Unlike Mitchell, he gets redemption in the end. A truly sweet movie about the cult of people that adore shitty movies.

It's more about the gay actor in Troll 2 then the actual movie, which was a letdown cause he gets progressively more annoying as the film progresses. I'm struggling to find out what the point of this film was. It wasn't informative at all and it gets less and less entertaining throughout. They needed more of the old crazy guy and less of George Hardy, also needed more of the hot dental hygienists feel me

Interesting and relatively honest look from Michael Stephenson's point of view of Troll 2. Yes it's biased but that's because of the close personal connection of the film maker and Troll 2. However it doesn't sugar coat the kind of movie Troll 2 is nor while it received a resurgence of attention: it's a laughably bad movie. Still it's great to see the human side of all the cast.
