Pretty intense movie. Got my heart racing a few times watching these kids take a bunch of wrong turns. Hit close to home since I'm a semi-jaded Asian American over-achiever (not to the degree of these kids though) in high school.

Weird movie. Just couldn't take the characters seriously...at all.

If only Lin could go back to making these kinds of movies.

Average. The story follows a group of Asian American friend through their first foray into petty crime that ultimately leads to murder. The plot carries through most of the film accompanied by some good performances but stumbles in the third act with a very disappointing ending making it hard to praise. But still its a watchable film. Marginally Recommended.

It's a paint by the numbers high school flick that takes a turn into brutal realism. It's interesting because it's from the point of view of the asian-american demographic that doesn't get much media exposure. Overall the story is forgettable but this is a pretty good indie film that launched Justin Lin's directing career and John Cho as an actor.

Some of the acting wasn't too great, but that's not a big deal. The story got me hooked. Good movie.

What could have been an interesting film about Asian American identity instead turns into a violent drug-binge without a lot of insight.

Alright story, directed at teenagers.

A film like BETTER LUCK TOMORROW goes to show that if you take time and care in developing good characters, no matter where the story takes us, we'll follow, as long as the story stays true to them.

One of my favorite "dark secrets of the suburbs" type movies ever made. As part of the malcontent "smart" crowd at my high school, it all hit ridiculously close to home (although I didn't murder anyone to my recollection). Or maybe I just liked it because I had a bunch of Asian friends in high school. Just kidding! I only had one Asian friend.

One of the few movies that I've ever seen on a whim. Lord am I glad I did. It's a great story of a guy just trying to get ahead to get the girl he wants. Throw in a little jealousy, violence, and suburban living, and you have gold my friends.
