Wow, who knew Kusturica could be so fucking boring. Well it's a low budget yugoslavian TV movie so there isn't much to expect, but really I thought Kusturica's touch could at least make this film somewhat memorable. Very few engaging scenes, otherwise a predictable, lackluster piece of film.

A very early Kusturica film that shows only a minute taste of the madcap flights of fancy he would become known for. It's primarily a moody drama, not bad at all but a little lifeless and predictable. It follows the story of a Jewish barkeep in WWII Croatia, and simultaneously tracks the path of the young man who will ultimately play a major role in his fate. While it's hardly one of Kusturica's great movies, anything is better than the crushing disappointment of Zavet.
