It's got balls. Ha.It did bring to light the shocking lack of evidence of actual long term effects of steroids (Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel did a similar piece) so interesting enough.

This shouldn't really be taken as an authority on steroid use. It's a personal documentary about one guy's struggle with the subject, which is compelling to watch. Near the end of the film he shows some real self awareness. He is a hypocrite, and so is his family. He knows it, and they know it. That realization made the film that much better for me. This is not the pro-steroids documentary. It's just asking why we are culturally pro-steroids, even if we don't like to admit it.

i like how a lot of people are all "this is a biased documentary" because it doesn't agree with their biased opinion about the subject. that's what the internet is now. if you disagree you're biased. just shut the fuck up, republicans. it's always you cunts. go read the byble. one time i had a dude tell me i was biased against black people because i didn't like vince young. just because reggie bush didn't try to kill himself doesn't mean i'm biased against black people

Really good, even if it does offer a lot of views that I find completely unreasonable. Can't think of a documentary with more highlights than this: From the stuff with Hogan and Iron Sheik to making legal effing supplements in 10 minutes (with a trio of illegal day labourers, no less!) to the inadvertent reenactment of the Schwarzenegger handshake, it's shock full of entertainment despite the foul subject matter.

It elevates the film, which is about steriods, to tie the interviews in with the history of the American culture that inspired the users of the drugs to bulk up. A bit too one-sided but I guess the point is that it's supposed to be a retort to the media's evaluation. Entertaining and overall a, well, strong doc.

While I appreciate the film trying to open up a dialog about how demonized steroids are compared to other drugs and it does illustrate how politicians do use them as a scapegoat. Still this film is full of bad science, I still find it amazing that interviews with steriod dealers are passed off as evidence that steriods aren't that bad. I do like how this documentary explains how ingrained in sports and culture steriods are but I highly dislike how it downplays the harmful effects.

It's not really effective as social criticism, more a story about a family whose trials with steroids have affected them, adversely or not, and to that end, I thought it was alright. It was worth watching, but it doesn't offer any histories or solutions, just a story on how steroids have affected them.

It may as well be called, EVERYONE SHOULD TAKE STEROIDS. It needed to consult with more medical professionals, though. Definitely biased, but has some good points. It really can't pass itself off as a balanced dialogue about the issue of steroids, though.

An interesting look at the flipside of the steroids debate, told from the perspective of a man whose family's culture is deeply rooted in them. I'm no scientist, so it's impossible for me to say who's right and who's wrong, but this film did what all great docs are supposed to do: they taught me some things I didn't know, and made me question the preconceived notions that I came into the film with. It's all told in a very light and breezy style that even non-sports fans should be able to enjoy.

Really interesting doc. that you don't need to be a baseball or wrestling fan to enjoy. It presents all sides of the steroids debate. It's not out to prove anything, just to raise questions and open the discussion -- and I walked away feeling like this issue isn't as cut and dry as I once thought. The stock footage and video montages were really well done. The comparisons to anti-adrenaline drugs taken by symphony musicians and drugs taken by students to enhance concentration were interesting.

One of the best films to explore the world of competition, and the requirement to raise the ceiling of expectation, by any means necessary. "Bigger, Stronger, Faster*" not only gives fair and balanced insight into the world of steriods, but entertains throughout. Interviews with those on and off of steriods, those for and against all deliver the goods. The tragic non-career of his older brother really struck a cord with me as a sidenote. This film is a dialogue, not championing or condemning.

In my mind, there is no excuse for not being as strong you can possibly be, Bell's brother Mark says. If only Bell had searched more thoroughly there, Bigger, Stronger, Faster* could have been a great piece of cultural criticism rather than just an entertaining piece of muckraking.
