Both the photography and scenery are beautifully realized, similar in style to The Black Stallion or The Secret of Roan Inish, but the narration reminded me to much of Milo and Otis; and I hate that movie. Still, the story was good and the cast was pretty great so I'm quite satisfied with the bit of romantic awe it inspired in me; planning on pleasant dreams.

When I was a little girl, this movie used to scare the hell out of me. I was very uncomfortable every time I tried to watch it, mostly because of the scene where the entire barn was engulfed in flames and black beauty was inside. I really didn't like the idea of this, even though I knew it was only a movie and at the time I didn't even really like horses all that much. Guess I'm too much of an animal lover to sit patiently through it.

Excruciatingly boring. This was my sister's favorite film as a child, so I had to put up with this bullshit way too often. I recall a scene in which the horse shits inside some old lady's house, and I remember that was pretty awesome. Wait, maybe that's a different movie. Yeah, I think the horse farts in this one. Either way, that scene ruled. I would rather watch that over and over again for two hours instead of watching this film. The old lady made a funny face.
