A little seen film from Loach, one where his traditional style - where character interactions are of great importance and ordinary rural/urban landscapes - meets a children's period story. The result is an engaging and solid piece by him of great craftsmanship (it's a shame the version available is damaged but I'm thankful its even on DVD) that also contains pieces of his political side in how it deals with the main female character, a mentally disabled young girl, and her treatment by society.
