collaboration between the composer Jocelyn Pook and director John Smith. The film addresses the construction of the M11 Link Road in East London, which resulted in the destruction of the homes of people who were part of an established community. The film's soundtrack combines the speech of local residents affected by the motorway work, natural sound and Pook's score for the Electra Strings. (youtube.com)

Best viewed not as a NIMBY public service announcement, but as a visual and auditory landscape of suburban rhythm in which Pook's music elevates Smiths' visuals and vice versa. Kill the spiders.

Theme is the badness of destroying homes to build roads, which is OK as far as it goes, though of course quite familiar and predictable, but the way the various elements have been composed in this short film is not without merit or interest.
