a sad first "last hurrah" for astaire (luckily he changed his mind) that is marked only by some of the best berlin, astaire, and crosby songs that have ever graced the screen. unfortunately no one gives a good performance, and even worse the story is chopped so far down that i defy you to make sense of it.
