Amazing. While not the most original premise, it's perfectly executed, genuinely hilarious, and just irresistibly adorable. Hopefully a return to form for Disney Animation. Go John Lasseter Go!

To put it simply, Bolt rocks. It's funny and adorable, and the first good thing to come from Disney Animated Studios in years. Okay? Do you read that? Years. I can only pray that this is the beginning of another quality streak for the studio, and I'll look forward to their future ventures from now on.

Disney animation studios is back!!! Thanks to John Lasseter this flick went from something that would have been depressingly mediocre to a well crafted, entertaining, and, most importantly, worthy addition to the Disney canon. Still a step behind Pixar, mostly in part to the regurgitated plot elements and lack of emotional connection to the leads due the fact that the supporting characters are way more interesting/entertaining. Susie Essman and Mark Walton are the true stars.

Bolt is just as much fun as any kids comedy to come out recently, and despite not being Pixar-made it almost holds the same level of wit from time to time. The lovable characters and fast paced adventure make it a good watch and well worth the price of admission.

Bolt may be a thoroughly predictable production, but it's a very enjoyable family film. Although the casting may appear slapdash, the characters portrayed are excellent and there are sufficient comedy moments to make the film run along nicely. The major strength is the atmosphere and admittedly slightly silly, but uplifting plotline concept after the more foreboding Wall-E. Has a spirit that few Disney films of the past decade have possessed, note worthy as a particuarly successful production.

Surprised by the amount of love this is getting. Perhaps children will enjoy it but I grinned exactly once and all the other jokes fell flat. These animated kid flicks need to make me laugh in order to work and this one certainly failed at that. Utterly lacking in the Pixar wit of a Toy Story, Nemo or even more recent non-Pixar CGI fare like Kung Fu Panda. If Disney's supposed to be "back" with this one, they're in trouble. Boring and I don't think the kids around me cared too much either.

(2014-15 Disneython #42:) I will admit that I underrated a bit when I saw it in 2008, presumably because the insufferable Pixar fanboy in me (since considerably calmed down) didn't want any animated movie in competition with WALL-E. Turns out it's actually quite good! It's got a clever story, likable characters, quotable comedic lines, and a big heart. The animation is stepped WAY up from Disney's last CGI flick Meet the Robinsons.

Really predictable at times, but thoroughly enjoyable thanks to a very nice performance by John Travolta as Bolt, and awesome comedy in the forms of Rhino the Hamster and the pidgeons. The cuteness factor and hilarious hamster make up for the stupid plotline.

A tremendous improvement over Meet The Robinsons. The story unfortunately degenerates into an archetypal "Incredible Journey" yarn quite quickly, but the cute and funny script made up for a lot. Rhino the Hamster is a highlight. The celebrity voices were unnecessary (as always) but at least they weren't jarring - though Malcolm McDowell's character should have had more scenes; that man is woefully underused. Lots of fun in 3-D.

Travolta and Cyrus (among others) are completely uninspired choices for voice acting roles and bring nothing distinctive to the characters. The animation is impressive but I'm baffled by the insistence to give animated films such a "real" look. Bolt also continues the trend of bad character design and the story follows a generic arc. Probably sounds like I hated this movie, but it's cute and kind of funny in spite of the poor aspects.

Amazing... Adorable puppies. You can't watch this, being a dog lover, and not marvel at the way they've captured every behavior in the life of the domesticated dog that digs them deep into our hearts. Including the beloved and despised "puppy eyes".

The first hour is pretty damn funny and provides a nice adrenaline rush, but then, "Bolt" goes Hollywood on your ass, slapping you in the face with a predictable happy ending and pointless teen songs, so that mindless teenagers can sleep at ease at night (I just wish it wasn't so obvious). Fuck Disney and Mickey Mouse. A film for kids...trust me.

the first 40 minutes or so are pretty good, but the pace falls off rather quickly as per Disney's usual need to make sure all the kiddies go to bed at night still thinking that all is right with the world.

Tried and true. Disney slaps a lot of "Homeward Bound," "The Truman Show," and some Buzz Lightyear together to give us the slickly animated and hugely average "Bolt." The movie is only mildly funny, but fast-paced and likable. The characters aren't particularly memorable, but in its 90 minutes it boasts some clever, explosive animation, and its few scenes that do stand out work very well. Ultimately, it's nothing new or brilliant, but it's entertaining cutesy stuff.

I honestly am amazed. Disney has made yet ANOTHER wonderful movie!! A sweet and touching story (yes, I cried more than I'd like to admit to). Anyone who loves animals will love this film! There's only two things that I would have liked the story to clear up that I was hoping they would have addressed, but they are fairly minor and don't really effect the story. There's plenty of witty, hilarious moments, but several touching ones as well. Highly recommended!:D

I admit I was dragged along to this movie by my friend, but I was thoroughly surprised at how enjoyable the movie really was. For starters, I did not even realise it was Miley's normally annoying voice as Penny and puppy Bolt was just adorable. The message is nothing new, but timeless. Bolt's adventure and discovery was really very heart warming. I expected something stupid and walked out of the cinema with a big smile on my face.

Unforgivably generic. If the script writers had any decency, they'd call this movie "Dog Story". The main characters are slap stick puppets, completely void of interesting traits, as the story makes repeated attempts to punch you in your emotional ball sack. It makes you suspect that this is nothing but a cleverly disguised Miley Cyrus advert. All is not bad, however, as this movie has some serious hamster factor going for it, if all too little, all too late.

As by-the-numbers as "Bolt" could be at times, I have to say I really enjoyed it. The characters here are introduced well enough in the first act that even them going through the motions was funny enough. It definitely doesn't have the depth of a Pixar film, but it doesn't seem to want it. There are comments on Hollywood throughout the picture, which is pretty ironic, considering that "Bolt" falls into many of the trappings that the film looks to satire. Still, I didn't walk out disappointed.

Seems to me Disney have established some training program for their boys with Pixar. This movie is like middle quality Pixar, animation quality is sub-par but the scenario machinery is about the same. The cat is the only character I could symphatize or relate to, still it's solid entertainment. Up until the 2nd half where all the tension boils down to sweet cliche I was thrilled. Good to go.

It's a bit silly, sure, but it's thoroughly charming. It's well written and the comedy is more hits than misses. Disney has been relying on Pixar to produce the hits for over a decade, and it's finally good to see Disney proving that it's still capable of delivering the goods on it's own. Really beautifully animated, and Travolta is a surprisingly good fit for Bolt. The pigeons are great and Rhino the Hamster is fully awesome. 2008 is clearly a good year for animated features.

This movie felt like it had a lot of potential if only the filmmakers had any cojones. It's animated decently but the character designs look like they were just drawings of the things they were. For example, Penny just looks like someone drew a cute little girl and Bolt himself just looks like someone drew a dog. Visually, they only relate tangentially to the personalities they represent.

Passably enjoyable Disney effort hits its peak with the exhilarating (and hilariously droll) opening action scene; this hits the bullseye so completely that it sets the viewer up for a level the rest of the film can never reach, settling into a half-baked retelling of TOY STORY. Not a great deal here to distinguish this from any multitude of “be yourself” animated movies; the animation is functional without being memorable, which is probably as a good a description of the movie proper as any!

Bolt sports decent animation, plenty of fast-paced action, and a decent plot with a mildly nauseating theme of belonging. While it is a well-crafted film, the talking animals and obvious jokes, along with its over-reliance on cuteness and attempts to be endearing, leave it all feeling a little forced. The first 10 minutes are by far the most exciting, after which it watchable but ultimately forgettable.

Bolt and his brethren teach us about being heroic even when we don't have muscles of steel or laser beam eyes. They demonstrate self-sacrificial friendship in the face of growl-worthy odds. And they share a tail-wagging need for a loving family, no matter how flea-bitten it may be. This could almost be mistaken for a Pixar film, and is probably the best of its genre anyone outside of Pixar has produced. Overshadowed by WALL-E, this is the Truman Show meets Homeward Bound. It's not going to win any prizes for originality but it's a very entertaining piece with a lot of heart and great characters. Travolta and Cyrus are a lot better when you don't have to watch them act, although I could have lived without Miley's warbling on the score.

The amazing first action sequence is 'The Incredibles' level fun! So while the central conceit works pretty well, I have to admit that I would have probably preferred a straight up super dog movie. Anyway, Travolta is good as the delusional dog, and this marked a new turning point for a studio which, at the time, hadn't produced anything worthy of note since 1994. (And in 2009, they one-upped themselves with 'The Princess and the Frog'.)
