This was on TV last night and surprise, surprise: it's an awful film.

I watched this because of a conversation I had circa 2005 in which the other person made it out like the opening scene was a masterpiece, so it's taken more than a decade and a half to refute that and be taken aback that they made two more of these. One of the most ineffective overuses of CGI that I've experienced.

The real boogeyman is whoever keeps greenlighting these types of movies.

Tell me why this needed two sequels, straight to video or not. I'm demanding to know why. if you want to know what this movie should have been like, watch Darkness Falls. This movie is garbage in all caps with twenty exclamation points. Everyone involved in this movie down to the gaffers should be drawn and quartered.

Extra points for the genuinely cool ideas that are present in an otherwise terrible script- those being the whole doors as teleportation devices thing, and the (I think?) implication that Tim created the demon with his own imagination. But, so many things still don't make sense about it. Every character is bland and boring. Barry Watson gives a depressingly one-note performance, like they only paid him 25 bucks for the part. Cool to see Emily Deschanel in this, though.

This movie is not dramatic, suspenseful, thrilling, horrifying or mysterious.

Has a few moments where a much better psychological thriller shines through. However, it takes its premise way to literally and drops any attempts at suspense and horror in exchange for shoddy CGI and a refusal to explain anything.

I love horror. Stay away from this one.

Dull and dreary horror movie never comes to life – outside of a comparatively atmospheric and intriguing opening sequence, nothing much works here to get the horror pulse racing, not helped by the performers who never seem to be on the same page; Watson’s dull, ineffectual lead is matched by Deschanel’s never-ending chatterbox (the prattle about photos that Watson has to literally escape to another room as it follows him is an (unintentionally?) hilarious highlight).

It reminds me of the lovechild between Birdemic and Silent Hills: Revelations. It's horrible cast acts out a worse script, with a premise that should have been made semi-interesting. Also, what a horrific ending. Bad horror is bad horror.

Watched this because I saw a trailer on a Saw DVD a few months back. Makes sense because this has the same kind of dreary, ugly and grey color palette as them (without the eye of Wan to make it acceptable). It's also edited in the same way. Frantic camera pans and has a stuck in the mid 2000s style that has aged like milk. A pretty interesting idea for a film that could tackle some challenging topics (grief, loss and all those fun things), but does nothing with it. Sad!

This film is so boring. Tries to be a horror an fails big time. It relies on loud bangs to try and make you jump with doesn't work. Also it shows you the boogeyman to much the fear of the unknown would have been far better. The ideas behind the film could have been good but his was a badly made movie with no substance to it.

Pretty decent PG horror movie, as I find these family rated horror films are way to tame typically. This flick has some good scenes with good effects and good use of atmospheric music. The script is not the greatest and the ending is quite weak. The acting is done just fine.

Monster-in-the-closet deal with generic traumatised hero, and a gorgeous chick that those kind of people apparently attract, trying to fight it. I saw this at a festival, drunk out of my mind, and it was still near the dumbest thing I've ever seen.

geez the same actor from "7th Heaven" and the tori spelling masterpiece "Coed Call Girl". no wonder i actually expected the movie to be this horrible. not a bad concept but the acting is beyond terrible and the delivery is just as bad. the ending is so ridiculous and cheesy.

It was boring and they left some important things out. Like Plot, for example. The ending was rediculous and didn't explain anything.

Eric Kripke probably could've just kept this to an installment of Supernatural rather than trying to make a full-length feature film out of it and it would've maybe been watchable. I turned it off after 36 minutes. Unless you're into watching someone get freaked out about closets and looking under beds, this will be a waste of your time.

As a movie, it wasn't much but I can still relate to poor Tims problem. I too check under my bed everynight and get scared of my coat. So I was terrified! Too bad that they blew the good chance of making the whole thing psychological with the idiotic sceleton man at the end..

Trash film. Also, I hate this trope in which the main characters don't explain anything to anyone and just say "i... uh... I need to go" instead.
