Summary: Three American students vacationing in Finland, cross the border into Russia for fun of it. When they are spotted by the Russian soldiers who are shooting to kill, it's not fun anymore. Captured and thrown in jail, they find it's not fun either. It's a nightmare. (imdb)

In 1986, Soviet leaders met with the U.S. president to discuss the dismantling of the Iron Curtain and abolishment of all WMDs. Both sides had grown weary of the years of tension, and were ready to bury the hatchet for the good of all mankind. The Russians arrived in Washington to pomp & circumstance worthy of a king and were treated with only the best U.S. hospitality. Then the White House held a screening of "Born American" and the Russians went back home and made 20,000 more nuclear missiles.

A real piece of 80s cheese. For no real reason, three bad actors cross the border from Finland to the U.S.S.R., at the height of the 80s cold war (remember Frankie Goes to Hollywood? M.A.D.? The Doomsday Clock?). Then, as if this senseless action didn't require enough unmitigated gall, the three go all Rambo on their pursuers. I don't have an issue with the depiction of the USSR, I really don't.What I have a problem with is the contrived situation that starts the action in the 1st place.
