Summary : Bobby Bowfinger, a nearly bankrupt aspiring movie producer-director, is about to take one last shot at fame and fortune. Desperate to hit the big time, the hapless dreamer recruits a motley crew of aspiring misfits, including an eager nerd, an ambitious ingenue and an overthe-hill diva. With their help, Bowfinger embarks on a radical, ingenious scheme to trick the biggest name in movies into becoming the star of his ultra-low budget film. (Universal Pictures)

It's an utterly ridiculous film, but it flows together in a way that makes it stand out as extremely fun, given the hammering critics (justifiably) gave Martin and Murphy for their choice of roles around this time. Here, though, they bounce off each other nicely, and the smart script, good cast (main and supporting alike) and neatly-done farce come together to make a very enjoyable comedy.

What is this movie supposed to be? I was honestly baffled by it. Because in reality, the whole concept is pathetically stupid. I have no idea why Steve Martin would write this, why he and Eddie Murphy would want to star in it, and why critics love this thing. It's not even remotely realistic, funny, or in any way an entertaining commentary or engaging satire on the filmmaking industry. Ok, Murphy is funny as the geeky twin brother of Kit, but otherwise this movie is terribly unfunny.
