Its title conjuring up images of an infestation, Box Elder is best for its neither romanticized nor finger-wagging portrayal of a certain kind of college-age arrested development. It isn't laugh-out-loud funny, some tertiary characters are sketched a bit too thinly, and the camerawork/staging are banal, but the end posits there's something wrong with this endless cycle of immaturity. Oh, and you're going to have to forgive the extremely marginal/cruel sketches of women herein, too.
