Summary: Brewster is an owlish, intellectual boy who lives in a fallout shelter of the Houston Astrodome. He has a dream: to take flight within the confines of the stadium. Brewster tells those he trusts of his dream, but displays a unique way of treating others who do not fit within his plans. When the fateful day arrives, and he enters the dome with his fanciful construction of bird wings, Brewster is surrounded by the police. Will he be caught before he attempts to fly? (imdb)

This odd, rambling film is gloriously, characteristically Altman. More original than "Mash," it can be seen as a first sketch of "Nashville" in the way it uses an obsession, a crime and a southern city to explore the nature of the U.S.A. in the later part of the 20th century. Bud Cort gives this film a special sweetness, and Kellerman and Duvall have never been better, but my favorite parts are the small, strange characters created by Auberjonois, Margaret Hamilton and Stacey Keach.

Part offbeat comedy, part murder mystery, Brewster McCloud is a wonderfully odd little movie. Barring that bummer of an ending, one of Altman's most purely enjoyable movies, even if it's kind of dark under the surface. I love Bud Cort.

Robert Altman in his best and his most madest. Story is far away from perfect, but that is thing that makes this oldie a must to see. Lots of birds around the main character, some real, some maybe invented. Countless small details builds up an unique storytelling and world of its own. Life of birds is one helluva circus.

Altman's first film after _M*A*S*H_, this odd fantasy/black comedy grows on you as it goes along with Margaret Hamilton in a funny Wizard of Oz in-joke and a downbeat ending they'd never go with today.

Very unique movie. It's pretty weird but not for the sake of being weird. Loved the ending & Shelley Duvall.
