Summary: Two Americans on a hunting trip in Scotland become lost. They encounter a small village, not on the map, called Brigadoon, in which people harbor a mysterious secret, and behave as if they were still living two hundred years in the past. (imdb)

Understated musical fantasy. Not as splashy or gaudy as many of its contemporaries, this is stagey but full of warmth and a melancholy charm all its own. Remade as _2000 Maniacs_ -- just kidding, folks.

Just not real charming. Ten minutes after seeing it, I could barely remember any of the songs

Surprisingly, a magical place like Brigadoon can be less magical that a not-magical one like Paris, and that using same director and same main actor. Yes, I'm talking about An American in Paris. I expected much more of this musical, as everything could lead to something really incredible in the artistic aspect. But not even the songs and dances (Kelly is sadly too wasted in this one) can save this. Not too boring and a nice idea, but lost oportunity to do something great.

I love this film. The music is great, the choreography is beautiful and the plot is really charming.

plot holes galore, terrible acting, and nearly every actor has a terrible scottish accent--in fact there are some of the worst accents i've ever heard. none of the songs fit in with the plot nicely, and it's all rather dissatisfying music wise. this movie might have been watchable had it not been a musical, the idea isn't that unappealing, but too much time was spent on choreography and music and the rest of the movie was forgotten in the process. the set design was good though...

Fantastic plot brought to life by Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse . The village (and it's airing as a film) appears once every 100 years... Make sure you catch the next appearance.
