Ok, so while it does drag in a few places, the others make up for it. A flashy, well acted adaptation of a good novel, witty and wicked.

Not as good as it could have been. The era is interesting, but the movie is not.

"Spectacularly irrelevant, Bright Young Things is well-performed and frequently hysterical but its political resistance is frustrating." - Ed Gonzalez

Doesn't display the vicious wit of the source material, and merely skips from scene to scene without a sense of purpose or a compelling through-line. I'm left wondering, why this story, why now?

a charming and light-hearted look at 30's london high society. as a social commentary it fails miserably, and as a comedy it's not really funny. this succeeds anyway despite those flaws, and it is wickedly entertaining.

I thought this would be a fun look at a bygone period in English history. I was wrong... although the cameo by Sir John Mills was awesome.

It's well made, certainly, but it very much shows that this was essentially Stephen Fry wanking off to his love of the time period. It's not nearly as witty or satiric as it's source, and it attmepts to put drama into places there should be none, it is at least well casted, well acted, and well-produced.

I adore Evelyn Waugh so much that with this cast I don't think I could have disliked this - and while I will say I would have swapped some of the more stupid attempts at humour for some properly biting satire from the book, I absolutely loved it. The performances are absolutely incredible, and it looks a treat.
