Very messy for a Coens film, but it's more than made up for by the performances, especially Pitt and Malkovich. I fear that I may turn out like the latter in my waning years, a writer's block-afflicted alcoholic who goes around hatcheting gym managers in the face.

A tragedy played for laughs. It never seems to fully cohere, but damn if its ending (depicting the institutional indifference of the intelligence community to the suffering of individuals) doesn't pack a bite. The laughs stick in the throat.

Funny, but it drags quite a bit. Has some great performances and moments, but the plot is weak (even though it didn't NEED to be that strong in the first place). A good film, but no where near great. Forgettable.

Quite a dissapointment for me. Just didn't click like so many other Coen Brother films I adore. Thumbs down.

Blegh. More like Burn Before Watching. Plot made no sense, had no point, and the humor was just a long drawn out tragedy of errors. Well placed actors though, I suppose.

This movie is OK, but nothing I would recommend to someone who needed something to watch. For the record, I LOVE coen brother movies...but this one was just OK. Pitt was really good and so was Clooney...but the script felt sort of "bored", if you will, with itself. Mildly predictable, but not a terrible film. This one is officially right in the middle for me.

The Simmons desk action is BRILLIANT. Easily the funniest bits of the film. Malkovich was also hilarious and Pitt and McDormand were both great (can't quite say the same for Clooney and Swinton but this is probably very much a case of great performances overshadowing alright but unremarkable performances). Unfortunately despite the movie being pretty darn funny the story feels a bit messy. Also the movie felt like it finished about 10 minutes too early.

A spy farce that feels more like an old school comedy of errors than most modern comedies. It doesn't quite reach the level of some other Coen brothers comedies, but the talented cast helps save it from being mediocre.

this was great. i kind of wish brad pitt had died later in the movie, because his death gave me such a weird feeling that stayed with me for the rest of the movie, but this was really well written and a really good comedy.

Definitely had a strong Coens Bros aspect to it. The characters were very funny, and acted extremely well. I especially liked Pitt's character, as well as Malkovich's. The movie itself is definitely not one of the Coens' strongest, but it was a good dark, satirical comedy.

Brilliant offbeat comedy from the Coen's. The casting is perfect all round, but in particular Clooney and Swinton have an excellent on screen chemistry just as they do in "Michael Clayton". The script is sharp and witty, and characters comic, but well rounded and strangely realistic. I also love the ending and the very final scene is just super. Once again the Coen's hit the mark.

It must be fun to act like some of these characters, especially the Brad Pitt one. I mean, they really must have had a blast. This is a well made movie, which is typical Coens. It's also typical Coens in that I couldn't really get involved with it. For all the skill and talent on display, it's like it kept a safe distance with me. That's fine, this just isn't for me. The only Coens movie that truly involved me was No Country.
