To be fair, it became evident in the first few minutes of this film that I was not the intended audience. Problem is, I'm not sure who that audience would be. This is so painfully boring that I couldn't even recommend it to die-hard chick-flick fans. The characters are bland but think themselves rather self-important. But the biggest problem is the slow pace. As we listen to highly dramatic music, Taylor takes several minutes to put on a fur. Golly, willikers...what will happen next?!? Avoid.

Plodding, earnest film. Taylor is very good here, though, and her overripe beauty, on the verge of decline, is captivating.

The story is just so-so, but a strong performance by Liz Taylor makes BUtterfield 8 slightly above-average.

A terrific bad movie. A daring subject. Liz gives a great performance with OK material.
