How is it that Daniel Stern looked younger ten years after this film?

This is a fun '50s-type monster movie. It's marred by ragged editing, but an appealing cast in offbeat roles and good makeups by John Caglione, Jr., make this a pleasant surprise.

So bad it's good territory.

I thought C.H.U.D had a lot of promise, but just fell massively short. The plot was pretty interesting to me, but there was a serious lack of action. Basically I wanted to see more people get murdered by Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers.

A movie I shouldn't have revisited. I had completely blocked out how boring most of it was.

Nice and pulpy little gore flick set in a dirty New York. Seems to meander a lot trying in earnest to make some sort of political point (real Reagan era stuff like deregulation and the mentally ill being forced to live on the streets) , and the actors, though usually solid, seem to be poorly directed (nigh uneditable line flubs and all that). But yeah, pulpy and fun, you could do MUCH worse with a film like this.

Boring.

A version of Ghostbusters in which the heroes battle it out with the guy from the EPA while the Stay Puft Marshmellow Man demolishes downtown. Also, possibly missteps in its apparent attempt to humanize the homeless when it turns them into flesh-eating monsters.

A surprisingly good 80's horror flick in the vein of Return of the Living Dead--the soundtrack is even similar. The cast is a lot of very good character actors, and even when the film is being satirical it keeps its tongue in cheek. Some real creepy scenes in this one too.

when there are actually monsters on the screen it's bareable, but there is just not enough of the monsters killing to make up for the unfunnily badness of many aspects. the greatest thing in this movie is daniel stern at such a young age.

Quintessential subterranean schlock horror!

Silly but not bad

The story is silly and complicated but surprisingly gripping. The actors aren't good but it somehow comes off as charming. Everything is clearly made on a small budget but it allows you to see the love that went into making this movie. A lot of this movie is stupid but it still has magic.

Made for about 20c (in 1984 money), I LOVE these kind of craptacular flicks, so awful they're funny

This gross, strange, little film shows heart along with the blood, sweat, and tears of the filmmakers in every frame of the film. Fun and gross at the same time, it can be said for sure that they just don\'t make movies like this anymore!

This movie was the breakout for both the dad and the dumb bad guy from Home Alone, as well as the goofiest looking monsters in the world.
