I enjoyed this one much more than perhaps I should have. I strongly suspect that it's because large amounts of this picture are about horrors of the mind -- the unrestricted id -- and that the form matches the content. That is to say... it's a movie that has a lot of dream sequences, and, appropriately, the entire film plays like a bad dream. The inconsistencies in the plot only make it *more* so, and therefore work, paradoxically, to the picture's advantage. Cinematic accidental poetry?

I was hooked as soon as I saw the hilarious decapitation scene (I had to rewind it), and subsequent "horrors" are just as funny. The film is entirely inept and not frightening save for one scene where a grinning, eyeless appartition of one of the victims (Cameron's mom's a-hole boyfriend) suddenly appears in a closet and it scared the piss out of me.
