Disney has certainly had better films than this, but it should please the younger audiences around. If it wasn't for some horrible characters (Tess & Jason in particular) it might not have been that bad, but Demi Lovato is quite likable as the lead Mitchie. Songs are decent, as is the storyline, but at the end of the day it's way too predictable and corny to be taken too seriously, and even High School Musical was better in my opinion, but the loyal Disney fans will love it regardless.
I know a lot of people not in the target demographic aren't going to even give this film a second thought, but for what it's worth, I didn't think it was bad. Poorly made, yes, but that doesn't stop it from being enjoyable, because the songs and message it was trying to give were (mostly) well-delivered. If you are on the fence about seeing this, then I say give it a look.
'Corny' is probably the best word to sum up this movie, but despite being corny it was still watchable. Compared to 'High School Musical' its not as good, but still a reasonable addition to Disney's catalogue. Demi Lovato's not bad as Mitchie but The Jonas Brothers aren't so great (luckily only one of them is really featured). Storyline is very predictable and probably the films let-down. Overall it's OK but compared to what Disney has previously delivered it could have been better.
