It's like this blender concoction of Michael Moore, Airplane and Canada. It's got a lot of really good jokes (and motherfucking Stephen Wright!) but falters around the land of character development. The protagonists are all interchangeably kind of boring and I never really cared about what they wanted. This is ultimately forgivable because funny things end up happening to them and it's redeemably amusing.

This is a terrible film but the concept makes me laugh.

Huge guilty pleasure and another flick where I was oblivious to the strong distaste people have for it.

Much as I fucking hate Michael Moore, this is a good, funny movie, with its madcap view of international politics. The premise of a war with Canada, and a bunch of overly patriotic cops on the border "invading" the country is very good, and many of the gags provide a solid pay-off. The acting performances keep it from getting stale in the middle portions, and while it ends with a whimper and not a bang, the timing is impeccable. Any more, and it would have started to become boring. Good stuff.

Worse than his documentaries.

When the US President talks up the possibility of war with Canada as a ploy to boost his popularity, a group of patriotic American yahoos near the border decide to invade the Great White North. Pretty funny in parts, especially if you're Canadian. Steven Wright's cameo as a Mountie is hilarious.

Plus 5 for the "Born in the USA" scene.

This Michael Moore fiction film is a disaster. Funny only in places.

Michael Moore's touch is very obvious, which is good and bad, but more crucially, there are not enough jokes here to last a movie.

A low-budget but hilarious movie that was actually ahead of its time in portraying what life would be like in a Bush-Cheny Halliburton era still on the drawing board when this came out. I watch it when I need a guaranteed goof laugh. Kevin Pollak is terrific. And who will ever forget Stephen Wright's bit part as a Mountie? Never fails to crack me up. Oh, Canada.

A funny movie with a very serious undertone which may, or may not, be caught and appreciated by everyone. I think that much more than being just some "silly John Candy movie", it's got some insightful social and political commentary to make about American politics, especially its Foreign Policy.

mildly enjoyable, but kinda plain

The film it's self is pretty hilarious if you like John candy, however it is somewhat dated humor.
