One of the least historically accurate films ever made, the best example being that Stallone's Frank Nitti, presented as a junior protege of Gazzara's Capone, was 11 years older than Al and assassinated in the 1930s, so their meeting in the 1940s with Nitti still the head of the gang is ridiculous and never happened. The portrayal of Capone is too simplistic, the love subplot is stupid and never happened, and yet...Gazzara and Stallone are effective in their roles, and it maintains a nice pace.
