Taut, discomfiting story of an amoral journalist who has to face the consequences of pursuing his sources. Hoffman is divine.

An effective bio-pic, but flawed.

Hoffman is amazing, but the movie fails to provide the emotional connection that makes you sympathise with Capote's state of mind towards the end of the film. I feel this is partly due to a script that could have used some extra revision and partly due to the fact that Clifton Collins Jr. simply could not hold his weight against the power performance from Hoffman. I find it unfortunate that it eventually just comes off as a Hoffman vehicle, because this had the potential to be a true classic.

A film more noticable for its performances (especially by Philip Seymour Hoffman in his Oscar-winning role), although the film itself, about Truman Capote, is well made.

A sometimes paceless biopic with a stellar centerpiece performance.

What I like about the film is that it nevers succumbs to making an obvious picture of what we are to think about Capote and what he did. The filmakers wisely left it up to the audience. This is definitely a well-crafted film. Definitely one of the best pictures of 2005.

I expected this to be a bit of "oscar bait" ponderousness, and it surprised me. It was insightful and forthright. Hoffman was as good as you would expect. Not a sentimental favorite, but I respect the craft and integrity that show up on the screen.

Preferred "Infamous"; Capote leaves you needing more from the story.

Fantastic performance by Phillip Seymour Hoffman. This is the story of the writing of one of my favorite books, and brings the vivid characters from that to life in a very enjoyable but eerie way.

Philip Seymour Hoffman is incredible in his transformation to Capote. This is one of the best "bio" films I've seen where an actor completely becomes the character he's portraying. Denzel does it in Malcolm X and Will Smith does it in Ali.

Philip Seymour Hoffman is probably my favorite actor. His acting is powerful, engulfing and precise. This film is the current highlight of his career, although he usually steals the show with his smaller roles as well, as for him there's apparently no such thing. He is the most versatile actor I've seen. Captivating story, electrifying performance (Hoffman's made me wanna go around donning a scurf presenting myself as "Truman Capote, The New Yorker" in a nasal voice).

A year after seeing Capote, I sat down to watch Infamous and loe and behold, what do I find? That the once revered Capote with its model-of subtlety style and anti septic atmosphere finally struck me as somewhat false- Capote was a dirty little man. Other than that, this is a top notch production with great performances painting the colorful characters in Truman's life. Though it fails to touch on his extravagant lifestyle and this is probably the ultimate flaw of the film, Hoffman's performan

This film demands patience and attention but it will reward you with a harrowing and haunting sense of wonder at what you see before you. I can't help regretting that it would have been even more worthy had I read In Cold Blood beforehand- but, on the flip side, the fact that a movie has made me want to learn, read and research is probably testament enough to it's quality. If you have the intelligence and attention span then you will fall for this film...

An interesting look at Truman Capote. Hoffman deserved that Oscar, as his performance as Capote was remarkably believable.

Thought it was dry. PSH was great, but he has one of the producers, so it was kind of a gimmick for him to get his acting more recognized. Generally overrated.

Hoffman is amazing, as is the filmmaking in general, but there's something that seems to cause it to drag a bit. Also, Keener as Harper Lee is pretty great.

It's a first movie I did watch purposely to see Philip Seymour Hoffman (I probably saw him few times before but nothing I can mention about). He did his role great, another movie where there's no action and you're able to watch it from the very beginning to the very end just to fulfill curiosity.

"Radiating serpentine self-absorption, Philip Seymour Hoffman embodies a youthful Truman Capote."
