Summary: Captain Eo and his rugged crew set out on a mission to deliver a special gift to a wicked queen who lives on a dark, desolate world. Getting there is half the fun, especially when the good captain starts boogying and the special effects start flying. (imdb)

I seem to remember liking it when I was 12 and a big Michael Jackson fan in Euro Disney (may have been viewed elsewhere, pretty sure it was there). It's no Star Tours though

Incredibly cheesy and lame mini feature aimed at kids and projected in 3D at the Epcot Center/Disney parks for years, the only redeeming value is seeing Michael Jackson dance.

Not so much of a plot, a weak captain (not another Kirk...), strange characters... but somehow interesting... even more surprising to see that Coppola was directing it...unbelievable.

I saw it in 3D at Disney World when I was a kid. I'm still not sure why I did see it, because I remember being utterly terrified by it and my parents were never Jackson fans. This is pretty much 80s excess and cheese at its worst.

Ugh, what a stinker. Cliche-ridden, badly acted, poorly written, and terribly designed 80s shite. I don't care if it was directed at kids, there's no excuse for this lameness. This goes to show how far a couple of 'name brands' can take an ill-conceived project-- it also shows that you don't necessarily need either talent or a good idea to make a movie.1 point is for they-drove-a-dumptruck-full-of-money-to-my-door Coppola (what were you thinking?) and 1 for Michael Jackson (R.I.P.)

If you would have told me that Coppola and Lucas may have inadvertantly created the visual look for Star Trek's Borg, I would have slapped you. While watching this, and discovering that it IS probably true, and that THIS was the vehicle, I wound up slapping myself over and over again to save you the trouble.

The 3D effects of the 80s were literally speaking "in your face". Despite its budget wasn't at all thin, this flick easily manages to pass as complete and utter trash. And yet, if you have a look at who was involved (Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas, James Horner) you've really got to wonder how this could happen. Some movies just don't age very well, I guess. :-)

On the one hand, the plot is completely nonsensical, contradictory, and random. On the other hand, who the hell cares? It's a short for little kids with Michael Jackson in a Star Wars setting shooting rainbow energy beams that turn killer robots into gyrating dancers. How freaking cool and funny is that, especially nowadays? Still, I was actually disappointed with both the song and dance steps. I also think Coppola, Horner, Jackson, and Lucas could have combined for something even better.

Another movie that's all frosting and no cake. In view of Jackson's more recent brushes with the law, this is a film that has gone from "everybody the right age has seen it " status to "gawkworthy curio"

I saw this at Disneyland -- can't say I remember much about it, except that it was rather awful, some of the 3-D was pretty neat, and Jackson squicked me even when I was eleven years old and he was still relatively human.

Michael Jackson's acting is not only so bad it's good, it's so bad it's GREAT. Incredibly entertaining. Same goes for the musical bits. That said, this is goddamn atrocious. I can see how George Lucas would come to be involved in this, but.. Coppola? Seriously? What?
