Summary: Top cover girl and fashion model, Jennifer Tree has it all - beauty, fame, money and power. She is loved and adored and sought after. But someone out there wants her in the worst way. Out alone at a charity event in Soho, Jennifer is drugged and taken.
Held captive in a cell, Jennifer is subjected to a series of terrifying, life-threatening tortures that could only be conceived by a twisted, sadistic mind. (After Dark Films)
This movie is the classic example of something that sounds good on paper but fails when it comes to executing it. I was generous with my rating for the simple fact this movie could have been so much better if this or that would have happened. points for trying
A vile, reprehensible film that starts out ugly and base but continues, surprisingly, in a very stupid and cliche fashion. The shock of it was who directed this, which I had no idea until the end credits. This truly is the definition of torture porn. Yet at the end, I did ask myself the question, which the filmmakers were not smart enough to pose, is murder for revenge's sake any more defensible than murder for pleasure? Truly one of the worst films I have ever seen in many, many regards.
Another movie in torture horror that falls really flat. Not only does it fall flat, but it is annoyingly predictable. I do like the cast that was used as I was a fan of Pruitt Vince since he was on the X Files and I like Elisha Cuthbert. But this doesn't bring anything new to the genre, but than again, no one really does and that is why the genre is fading fast. It is a way to earn some quick cash. But I didn't have high expectations for this and that is what I got. Kind of a waste.
Not too bad for a Thriller that is fairly similar to the Saw series, but obviously its no match for those films. Elisha Cuthbert is likeble as Jennifer, a model who is held captive. She is joined by Gary, a man being held captive also. Its a good storyline that tends to pick up more towards the end after being a little slow to begin with. The 'twist' is no real surprise but I guess not all would see it coming. Overall nothing too special but worth a look if you're into these types of films.
Very, very intensive, good editing, excellent choise for leading actress. Outside world is pretty outside in this story. The other captive is the worst link in here. Well, maybe except the twist in the end, which is not a surprise at all. Claustrophobic feeling is okay, but more closer the end you get, more sure you are that there is not much of reasons for everything.
Strip "Hostel" and "Saw" of gore and context but leave the propensity for the latter's unsatisfying "twist" endings and you get something as deathly boring and inert as this film.
An ok thriller but nothing special, and the fact that it's not gory enough for those who like to see gore and too disturbing for those who don't probably leaves it without much of an audience.
God, this is one of the most contemptible, ignominious, disreputable and degenerately deteriorating movies ever. Captivity is indefensible for all of its flaws, and anybody who finds this measly and reprehensibly condemnable slightly good does not require any contemplation or furtherance. Roland Joffe is a terrible filmmaker, and I hope he rots.
