The Zemeckis/Hanks combo didn't hit Gump gold here, but Hanks held up his side of the bargain. Too many cliche's and it over-concluded itself, both ultimately drained the power and intrigue that the island scenes had. I wasn't a big fan of the 4 years jump as well, I would've liked to have seen more of his struggles and development.

Wilsonnnnnnnnnnn. Hanks does the herculean task of making this film watchable to the end. It's not a bad film, but as an entirely character driven story it required an actor like Hanks to hold it together until the end.

Paint by the numbers all the way. Tom Hanks gives a great performance but even he can't carry what is a rather tepid script.

This movie developed a volleyball into a character that I cared about. It is excellent.
