A funny semi-spoof of _Night of the Living Dead_. Bear with a talky and sometimes heavy-handed first half and you should enjoy the surprisingly gory and downbeat conclusion.
puts us in the middle of an acting troupe led by an excentric director who wants everyone to take part in a satanic ritual to raise the dead. Trouble is, it works. It takes forever to get going, but once it does it floors it and pours on the carnage (by 1971 standards) aided by a very effective soundtrack. There's not much here, really, but worth watching for that pure board-up-the-doors-they-want-to-eat-you zombie rush.
A group of theater actors sail to a small abandoned island to desecrate a graveyard and invoke Satanic powers for no apparent reason other than to provide a plot. Zombies rise, actors die. The zombie attack is pretty decent with plenty of corpses and gore, but it takes way too long to arrive. You have to endure over an hour of crap dialog and painfully theatrical overacting before the undead show up.
